Day two, Tour de Downpour

Friday morning opened with what would be the theme of the day, “How do I stay dry?”
Though the actual downpours were scattered throughout the day, the non-stop staccatto of rain formed a background against which everything else was affected.
Friday was school day at the TdS. I was told that more than a thousand local students were scheduled to be bussed into the Park and shown through the exhibits and vehicles on display. I don’t know if the rain dampened those numbers but it didn’t seem to be case. Throughout the morning kids from elementary to middle school age were taken through the area in groups.

Some of the project vehicles were on display under “the big tent”.

In general the kids seemed interested and enthusiastic. The rain didn’t seem to bother the ones who had not brought umbrellas or rain gear. I guess I don’t have to dig too far back into my memory to recall a time when any time out of the classsroom was a cause for celebration.

But Friday wasn’t only for kids. Some interesting vehicles on display for the rest us as well as some of the time trials for the TdS racers took place.
