The exterior of the Saratoga Springs Auto Museum. They’re co-presenting the car show on Saturday.

The view of the TdS big tent through the trees of Saratoga Springs Spa State Park.

A TdS racer at the starting line for time trials on Fridat afternoon.

I think one of the coolest things about TdS are the schools that are involved. I only wish any of the schools I attended had been involved in projects like this.

The official timekeepers of the TdS trials.

    The Lexus GS450h

There are only two identifying marks on the outside of this hybrid Lexus that label it a hybrid. One is the lower case “h” at the end of the model number on the back and the other is this small “hybrid” tag on the lower trim of the rear doors.

I had this conversation, or a very similar version of it with four different people. It went something like this.

“Sure is a nice looking car, eh?”

“Yeah, but it only gets 35MPG.”

    “I bet it’s a blast to drive”

“And the people who drop $54k on this car would probably otherwise buy something that would suck down gas at an even more prodigious rate.”

    “339HP…really.”

    “54k?”

    “It only gets 35MPG?”

“I bet it would be fun to drive.”

And so ends Friday at the Tour de Sol. It’s almost midnight here and I have to be back at the park, ready for the car show at 8. I’ll be taking pictures and notes and should have a huge update on the final day of the Tour de Sol shortly thereafter.

Thanks for visiting this page and check back soon for our final report from Saratoga Springs.
