DETROIT New data indicate sales of hybrid vehicle in this country more than doubled last year.
At the same time though, one analyst says it’s hard to predict what will happen as gas prices fluctuate and new fuel-saving options such as ethanol vehicles hit the market.
R-L Polk and Company reports registrations for new hybrids rose by 139 percent — to more than 199-thousand in 2005 as more models came on the market.
Polk analyst Lonnie Miller says when gas prices rise, as many as 80 percent of buyers say they’ll consider hybrids. But many bypass them because they can cost up to four-thousand dollars more than their gas-powered counterparts. What do they never mention in stories like this?
