  • Want a portable Nav unit for your Prius?

And just to address one issue right away, yes, you want one. That is, if you ever drive anywhere you’re not familiar with, if you ever make long trips and just want to answer that eternal question, “How much longer?”, you want a nav.

I used a Garmin C320, one of their least expensive units during the POG Winter Road Trip and besides saving wear and tear on my navigator (Mrs. Priusownersgroup) we found it indispensible. Sure, it made driving in a province where english is not the primary language a piece of cake, but it also left completely free of worrying where we were. The nav always knew where we were and told me so. It performed almost flawlessly (I had to reboot it twice during the trip, no big deal). The big thing is, it let us enjoy the drive.

The Prius Owners Group is now offering a selection of Garmin portable navigation units. If this sounds intriguing to you, check out our new nav page and if you have any questions, just ask me.

It’s like the old saying about power windows. You don’t think you want them until you own a car that has power windows. Then, you never want to go back to cranking that window by hand again. Portable nav is significantly more useful. It makes your drive safer and takes the pressure off you from having to be familiar with where you are.
